Floyd Viel, president of IS Restaurant Design Equipment & Supply, passed away at the age of 76.
Viel was born in 1947 in Superior, Wisconsin, and moved with his family to Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1950. His parents, Walter and Gertrude, founded Institution Services in 1967, which later became IS Restaurant Design Equipment and Supply. Viel returned to Sioux Falls in 1970 to join the family business after completing his military career and worked to develop the company into a successful business.
Viel married Karen Knutson in 1972 and the couple went on to have three children, Tiffani, Ryan and Jacqueline. He is remembered as a wonderful and devoted father, husband and mentor. Known for his positive outlook, Viel always looked to find the good in every situation and he considered many of his employees to be part of his family. When he was not working, he could be found golfing, hunting or boating with his children and seven granddaughters.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 13, at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.
