PRIDE and NAFED Buying Groups Join Forces in New Organization

Two buying groups for distributors in the foodservice equipment and supplies industry, the National Association of Food Equipment Dealers and PRIDE Centric Resources, have announced they are coming together to form a new organization, Alignity Group. With a collective 100 years of industry presence and representing more than 150 dealer shareholders that have combined annual sales exceeding $2 billion, the consolidation is expected to strengthen Alignity Group’s buying power and access to services and training resources.

Hoshizaki America Names New Senior VP of Sales and Marketing

Hoshizaki America has appointed Kelly McWilliams as its new senior vice president of sales and marketing. McWilliams’ career spans more than 25 years in the foodservice industry, including time at organizations such as Coca-Cola, Cornelius and Middleby.

Dealers: Urge Your Representatives to Support the House Reconciliation Bill's Tax Provisions

To help members have their voices heard on the crucial tax relief proposed in the House of Representatives, FEDA has written a pre-filled letter that dealers may send to their U.S. representative. Proposed Reconciliation Bill Delivers Tax Wins for Distributors

FEDA is joining other business advocacy groups in supporting the Republican reconciliation bill, which contains several key tax provisions that would benefit distributors. With a 26-19 vote, the House Ways and Means Committee passed the tax portion of the reconciliation bill out of committee on Wednesday, May 14. The bill will now be combined with reconciliation bills from other House committees and then considered by the full House.

U.S. and China Reach Deal to Pause Most Tariffs for 90 Days

The United States and China have announced a trade deal that will reduce tariffs between the two countries by 115 percent for 90 days beginning Wednesday, May 14, creating a path for further trade negotiations. Some tariffs on Chinese goods will remain in effect during the broader pause. Namely, the Section 301 and Section 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum and the 20 percent tariffs enacted earlier this year in response to the fentanyl crisis. Both countries will also retain a baseline 10 percent tariff on each other’s exports.
