Singer Equipment Expands Southern Reach With BRESCO Acquisition
Singer Equipment Co. announced the acquisition of the business of BRESCO, a distributor headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. BRESCO, which has served the greater Alabama market for more than five decades, will be integrated into Singer H&R (formerly Hotel & Restaurant Supply). Both companies are FEDA distributor members.
“For over 50 years my family, along with our dedicated team, have served leading foodservice customers and contractors across the South,” George Tobia, president of BRESCO, said in a statement. “I am excited for our team to be joining Singer. As part of Singer, we will be able to continue our growth and bring benefits and opportunities to our customers and employees alike. I have known the Singer family for many years, and our companies share common values of excellence, professionalism, service to our customers and care for our employees.”
Tobia will join Singer to help support the integration of the companies and to continue leading and growing sales efforts in the Alabama market.
“I am thrilled to welcome George, his son Matthew, and the entire BRESCO team to Singer,” said Fred Singer, president and CEO of Singer Equipment. “George and his team are recognized leaders in their market with broad respect from vendors and customers and a reputation for integrity and excellence. Together we will bring new opportunities to our customers and co-workers alike.”
The acquisition gives Singer Equipment 14 offices in the South, with locations in Virginia, the Carolinas, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Marcus Lyon, president of Singer H&R, said adding BRESCO’s talent would positively impact Singer Equipment’s growth strategy and make it a better solution for customers. “It is a pleasure to welcome the BRESCO team to Singer,” he said. “We not only have shared cultures and values but have had a long-standing relationship of professional respect between our companies.”
BRESCO’s ability to provide comprehensive foodservice solutions and its long history of excellence fit Singer Equipment’s acquisition strategy, explained Seth Feldman, CFO for the Pennsylvania-based distributor. “We look forward to continuing to grow together and provide strategic solutions and partnerships to our employees, customers, and vendor partners as we have for over 100 years,” Feldman added.
