Product Data Standards and Integration (PDSI)
Public Comment Period Information

FEDA is inviting members and other interested industry participants to review the draft Product Data Standard before it is finalized.

The standard was developed through the Product Data Standards and Integration (PDSI) Initiative, a subcommittee of FEDA’s Future of Distribution Council (FDC), to provide practical, industry-informed guidance for the creation, management, maintenance, and exchange of product information in the commercial foodservice equipment industry.

The standard is intended to improve product data quality, consistency, completeness, and accessibility across manufacturers, distributors, technology providers, and digital business systems.

Public Comment Period

Oct. 12 – Nov. 13, 2026

FEDA encourages member companies to circulate the draft internally and invite employees who work directly with product data and the processes addressed in the standard to participate in the review.

You do not need to be a standards expert or review the entire document. Focus on the sections most relevant to your work and provide feedback based on your experience.

As You Review the Draft

Consider the following:

  • Does this reflect how product data is actually created, managed, maintained, and exchanged in the industry?
  • Is anything unclear or open to interpretation?
  • Are any recommendations difficult or unrealistic to implement?
  • Is something important missing?
  • Could any provision create unintended consequences?
  • Are the recommendations practical across different systems, technologies, and business processes?
  • Based on your experience, would you recommend doing something differently?

What Happens Next?

All submitted comments will be compiled and reviewed by the appropriate FEDA/FDC group as part of the revision process. Feedback may result in changes to the draft before the standard moves into FEDA's final review and approval process.
