Cook’s Direct Walk Raises $12,000 to Support Women With Ovarian Cancer

Cook's Direct team members joined the Together in TEAL event to support the ovarian cancer community.
Nearly 40 team members from Cook’s Direct walked to raise about $12,000 to support individuals with ovarian cancer earlier this month.
The FEDA distributor member, based in Warrenville, Illinois, participated in the Together in TEAL event hosted by the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) on Oct. 11. The event aims to raise awareness and funds for the prevention and cure of ovarian cancer and to improve the quality of life for survivors and their caregivers. Participants had the option of walking 1.5 or 3 miles at Cantigny Park, a 500-acre former estate in the Chicago suburbs.
Overall, the event raised more than $256,000, according to the NOCC website. Of that, nearly $12,000 came from Cook’s Direct, which exceeded the company’s fundraising goal.
“This is a particularly important cause for us at Cook’s Direct because several people on our team have been impacted either directly or indirectly by ovarian cancer,” said Ryan Bicking, director of marketing for the dealer. “With no current routine tests to detect ovarian cancer, events like this are a great way to raise awareness, help people recognize symptoms and take steps to get an early diagnosis.”
