Some students in the St. Louis area are enjoying a better start to the school year thanks to Ford Hotel Supply Co.

The St. Louis-based dealer donated 50 backpacks to The Little Bit Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to breaking down barriers to learning for students living in poverty. Each backpack was filled with supplies a grade school child would need to start the school year off right, including pencils, markers, glue, notebooks, and paper.

Ford employees maintain a charity fund that supports various local organizations. The company holds a chili cook-off in the fall that raises the majority of the money for the fund, but it also holds smaller fundraisers throughout the year, which are supported by vendors and local vendor reps. Aside from The Little Bit Foundation, the employee charity fund has been used to adopt families during the holiday season, support women’s and homeless shelters, fund domestic abuse programs, and assist local first responders and employees in need.

“Giving back to our local community means a lot to us at Ford,” the Ford Employee Charity Team said. “Through our Employee Charity Team, we come together, not just as coworkers but as neighbors who care. It’s rewarding to support the people and organizations around us and to share that purpose together.”
