Foodservice equipment and supplies sales rose for the second consecutive quarter, putting the overall market on positive ground after 15 months of negative growth, according to the latest MAFSI Business Barometer.

The 2.1 percent growth was an improvement over the 1.6 percent increase seen in Q2 2025 but fell short of MAFSI’s 2.7 percent growth forecast. The association noted that the market appears to be showing signs of modest growth as fears of disruptive tariffs appear to be abating.

The tabletop category saw the largest growth (3.3 percent) in Q3 2025, followed by furniture (2.6 percent), equipment (1.9 percent), and supplies (1.5 percent). By region, the Midwest led the way (3 percent), followed by the South and Northeast (2.9 percent each), Canada (0.7 percent) and the West (-1.4 percent).

Although overall sales were up, both quoting and consultant activity declined during the quarter. MAFSI’s SpecPath recorded 824 projects in Q3 2025 compared with 950 for the same period last year, a 13.3 percent decrease.

Looking ahead, the association believes the upswing will continue, with 1.7 percent growth projected for Q4 and 4.3 percent growth anticipated for calendar year 2026.
