Grady’s Latest Project Will Help Feed Colorado and Wyoming Families
Since moving into its current distribution center in 2006, the Food Bank of the Rockies, which serves Colorado and Wyoming, has quintupled the amount of food it distributes to families in need. With temperatures getting colder and the holiday season approaching, community access to nutritional meals will only become more important. Fortunately, the food bank will soon open a new 270,000-square-foot distribution center outfitted with kitchen equipment supplied by Grady’s Foodservice Equipment.
The $75 million project will double the Food Bank of the Rockies’ cold storage space for fresh and frozen food, quadruple the size of its kitchen and increase its overall food storage capacity by 67 percent, enabling it to provide up to 10,000 meals for children every day.
“Grady’s Foodservice Equipment is honored to have been the kitchen equipment contractor for the new Food Bank of the Rockies facility in Aurora, Colorado — a project that goes far beyond equipment and installation,” said Bella Maes, project coordinator at Grady’s. “For families facing tough choices, this kitchen means reliable meals, dignity and a little breathing room when it matters most.”

The new distribution center has been in the works for more than two years. Grady’s is supplying the kitchen equipment and handling the installation but is part of a larger team that includes Young Caruso Design & Consulting, Commerce Construction Co. and CAA ICON. “From planning to placement, we focused on efficiency, safety and durability so the team can prepare and move more food, faster to the people who need it,” Maes added.
