Great Lakes Hotel Supply Denver designed and built a miniature golf hole for the Dude Dad Mini Golf Open.

It’s usually a bad sign when cutting tools are left lying around, but for Great Lakes Hotel Supply Denver, an oversized chef’s knife was the perfect obstacle for its miniature golf hole at the Dude Dad Mini Golf Open.

The event, named for and hosted by the star of Magnolia Network’s Super Dad TV show, was held last month at New Belgium Brewing Co. in Fort Collins, Colorado. Thirteen teams, including one from Great Lakes Hotel Supply, designed and built mini golf holes around the theme of “Little Things Made Big.”

Great Lakes became involved with the event through the past experience of Brent Niccore, an account executive at the company who built a Plinko-inspired hole with his two daughters last year. When he was invited back for 2025, he realized it would be a chance for the FEDA distributor member to get involved. “As a new member of the Great Lakes team, I saw this as a great opportunity for team building and getting to know my colleagues,” he said. “We brainstormed several ideas for a hole that would reflect our industry — ranging from oversized spoons to three-compartment sinks — and ultimately decided on a giant chef’s knife, one of the most essential tools in any kitchen.”

More than 1,400 players played Great Lakes’ hole and the courses from the other teams. Altogether, the event raised over $11,000 for Respite Care, a nonprofit organization that provides short-term, quality care for children with developmental disabilities.
