Two FEDA Members Earn Top Workplace Awards
Two FEDA member companies, KaTom Restaurant Supply and Alto-Shaam, have been recognized as top workplaces by USA Today.
The USA Today Top Workplaces awards recognize employers that have built strong, people-first cultures. For the 2026 awards, more than 42,000 organizations across the United States were invited to participate, with winners selected entirely based on anonymous employee feedback gathered through an independent engagement survey administered by Energage. The survey measures key workplace experience factors proven to drive employee engagement and organizational performance. New winners are announced every month.
“Earning a Top Workplace award is a celebration of excellence,” said Eric Rubino, CEO of Energage. “It serves as a reminder of the vital role a people-first workplace experience plays in achieving success.”
KaTom was awarded a Top Workplace Culture Excellence & Industry Award for 2026. The Tennessee-based FEDA distributor member was recognized for its efforts in prioritizing work-life balance and the work of its social committee, which plays a key role in organizing team events outside of its office.
“At KaTom, our people have always been at the center of everything we do,” the company said. “Being named to the 2026 USA Today Top Workplaces list is a meaningful recognition of the culture our team has worked hard to build every day. This honor reflects our commitment to creating an environment where employees feel supported, empowered, and inspired to grow. We believe that when our team thrives, so do our customers, and this recognition reinforces the importance of investing in both. We’re proud to be acknowledged for the workplace we’ve created together, and even more proud of the people who make it possible.”
For the third consecutive year, Alto-Shaam has received a Top Workplaces award. The FEDA manufacturer member was included in the large employer category, which covers organizations with 350 or more employees.
As a global foodservice equipment manufacturer, Alto-Shaam strives to support customers in commercial kitchens around the world while maintaining a strong connection to its employees. With team members and operations spanning multiple regions, the company aims to innovate and deliver solutions that serve customers across dozens of countries, while fostering a workplace culture rooted in collaboration, accountability, and shared purpose.
“Being recognized as a USA Today Top Workplace for the third year in a row speaks directly to the dedication of our employees,” Alto-Shaam CEO Steve Maahs said. “Our people are the foundation of everything we do — from how we innovate to how we support our customers globally. This recognition reinforces the importance of listening, investing in our teams, and continuing to build a culture where employees feel valued and empowered.”
