FEDA has once again partnered with the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP) to deliver a customized finance education course at no cost to FEDA members. This three-part series will equip finance practitioners with the knowledge and skills needed to implement best practices for financial modeling, lead in analytics, harness AI technologies, and drive sustainable organizational change. Those who participate in the live sessions may earn 2.4 CPE credits for each session. The first two-hour session will be presented at 10 a.m. CST on Feb. 13. The 2026 FEDA Member Congressional Visits are an opportunity for FEDA members to learn about priority legislation from our industry's experts and directly educate their senators and representatives about the issues most important to our industry. FEDA members are invited to participate in the two-day program, which will help increase policymakers’ understanding of foodservice equipment and supplies distribution and expand congressional leaders' support for the industry during critical legislative decisions. FEDA Co-Signs Letter Urging Congress to Advance Bill to Lessen Regulatory Burden on Small Businesses
The Prove It Act of 2025 introduces several key provisions intended to enhance transparency in federal regulatory decisions, including requiring agencies to disclose any indirect costs proposed rules may impose on small businesses. By increasing transparency, the law aims to ensure federal agencies are adhering to the Regulatory Flexibility Act (RFA) of 1980. A 2024 report from the House Small Business Committee found that most agencies are failing to comply with the RFA’s requirements.

Partial Government Shutdown Ends, Teeing Up Debate Over DHS Funding
A $1.2 trillion bill, which passed on a 217-214 vote, ensures full-year funding for most federal departments through the end of September, ending a four-day shutdown that began on Saturday, Jan. 31. The exception is the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which had its funding extended only through Feb. 13. The short funding window for DHS is intended to give lawmakers time to negotiate possible reforms to Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection, which both fall under DHS.
